The Middletons

It's very obvious that I love the Middleton sisters, yet when I'm asked: "who are you more similar to, Kate or Pippa?" I say: "I'm myself, thank you." I think it's fine to be inspired by the Middleton's style or by any celibrity's as long as you don't forget your own instincts.
Here are some "High street" copies of their dresses and also more expensive pieces they wear so you can add on to your own instincts.

These Banana Republic Monogram dresses are obviously inspired by Pippa's bridesmaid dress. These aren't available in petite sizes, but you can get them in size 00. White gown,$350 (sizes 00-16) and pink dress, 175 USD (00-16). Note: pink dress isn't currently available in size 00, but the black version of it is. Both, bananarepublic.com

The following are accessories and shoes that the sisters themselves wear:
You've all probably heard of the "Kate effect." For those who haven't, it's how Kate has revolutionized the British fashion industry by wearing clothing from said industry. One of the brands that has been affected by this is L K Bennett, whose nude pumps are one of Kate's favorites.
Sledge Shoe
Nude patent leather pumps from L K Bennett. From left to right: Platforms, 185 pounds (these are the ones that Kate wears); basic pumps, L165; peep-toes, L155. Sizes 35-42. All, lkbennett.co.uk. There are also more types of pumps, but these are my favorites.
This is how she wears them:

The Pippa Modalu bag.
Named after her, she has it in different styles.

This is how she rocks it:

Design

As you can see, I changed the design of the blog. Now, it looks like a candy shop instead of a blog for petites. If this should result in any viewing problems, let me know and I can change the format.
Anyway, I will probably get tired of the mushy pink colors soon, but for now it reminds me of cotton candy and looks super cute.
More stuff coming soon,
Carmen

Prizes!

My blog recently got a prize from Julia, the genius behind the blogs Trendedero and Trendedero Pequeñas Cosas, who is also my aunt.
This prize isn't a big deal, it's just for people in the blogging community to get to know each other (Liebster means favorite in German, or so I've heard).
If you get this prize, you have to give it to five blogs with less than 200 followers and let them know by commenting in an entry, sending them an e-mail, etc.
So these are the people I've chosen:
Lara Ann: Commonly known as Annie, she's a young photographer and probably my favorite Instagrammer. She has beautiful captures on both her blog and Instagram (wildannfree) and although it's not a fashion blog, she does have fashion pics and amazing dresses. She also has great taste in music, we're both Coldplay fans and like the same kind of music

I'm giving Julia the prize (again) because she does a great job on both of her blogs. One of them (Trendedero Pequeñas Cosas) is for children's clothing and the other (Trendedero) is about fashion in general. She also has some entries about sowing, and both blogs are in Spanish but she also speaks English.

I also love this other photography blog, Bre . Anna. She seems to have recently started out, but she has great pictures and some of them are also fashion-related, because it's so easy to find inspiration in fashion. Faollow her on Instagram, @bresea.

Another photography - and fashion - blog that I love is The Various. The writer and photographer behind it is Ellie, and it's about just anything that makes you smile. Don't forget to follow and post a day-making comment =)

The last blog is my own blog, Jeans and a Shirt. I know it might be weird to give my own blog a prize, but I'm tired and can't think of anything else to write. Also, I work just as hard a s other bloggers.

Don't forget to add the Liebster Blog picture to your post and a link to the blog who gave you the prize.

Inspired by... Sophia Loren's waterproof look

Hi people!
I apologize for not writing in over a month, but my vacation is starting in a week, so I'll get to write some more. Also, I created another blog (jeansandashirt.blogspot.com), but that doesn't mean I'm abandoning you glamurous petites. By the way, said petites shouldn't be scared to comment and follow!
So this entry is inspired by an article in the November 2011 issue of InStyle (probably my favorite mag) and by Sophia Loren, one of my idols. It's for rainy days, but I'm showing thinner, shorter, more summery pieces.

Recent Edits and a Mint on the Pillow

Now that I've had time, I have edited some entries:
Must-Have: denim jacket
I added a new piece to the Vuitton ad entry

And because I don't want to waste precious space, here are some stylish presents for you (not all are petites):

These concealed-wedge Nike sneakers are the results of a Nike and Liberty of London collaboration. Covetable enough at their $130 price, they're already out of stock online!

Burberry Prorsum woven raffia trench coat, $2.995. Even though the Burberry trench is a classic must-have, there are millions of new variations every year that are equally lovable.

Sometimes the classic Burberry checks just get on my nerves, so it's nice to see a belt in neon shades. It would look great with the trench I previously showed. 495 USD

Christian Louboutin loafers, 995 dollars at net-a-porter.com. Although the real fun Louboutins are the sky-high heels worn by Blake Lively and Lady Gaga, the flats are much more comfy. Besides, slip-ons are in!

Beauty Update!

I hope that two entries compensate for abandoning you for more than a month.

The last time I wrote about beauty, I was using a Neutrogena concealer. Since that time, I went over to the dark side (Origins) because the other concealer didn't work out for me. I don't mean to critisize the concealer in any way, but I don't recommend it. It's orangey and destroys the whole purpose of wearing concealer, beause it's more noticeable than blemishes. Aside from that, I haven't really changed my beauty routine. Even though they're expensiv, Avène products are great and now that summer's right around the corner, I'm going to use their SPF products, which have worked for me year after year.

Origins Quick, Hide! concealer, 15 dollars, origins.com

Beauty tip:
Trust the ballerinas: When I was in the Nutcracker this year I kept some of the bobby pins from the company and I don't just use them for my buns, they have the strongest hold I've ever seen in a bobby pin and work for every kind of hairstyle. We also got professional Mehron make-up and I have to admit that I've used it many times offstage, but you can never go overboard with it.

Mehron Hyper-performance CreamBlend foundation, $10.95

Mehron Pencil Liner, $3.50
You really can't go overboard with this eyeliner because it's for stage use so it can look exaggerated.

The Must-Haves II

I haven't posted anything recently because I've been extremely busy and travelling and all, but my mind has been buzzing with all these ideas for entries that I seem to forget when I sit down at the computer.
Anyways, this entry is about denim jackets (I actually don't have one).
The easy way to go is to pair your Gap jeans with your Gap jean jacket, but we're fashionistas, aren't we?

Recently, celebrities have been wearing denim jackets with cute party frocks, so we'll try that look too.

Celeb style:

Keira Knightley chose an LWD with a faded denim jacket, khaki booties and an oversized bag, while Rachel Roy opted for her own designs; a tie-dye denim jacket and a beaded LBD.

Real girl style: (these are from the TeenVogue website)

From left to right: Stylish Indian 21-year-old Anupreet Sidhu wears a faded denim jacket and white sunglasses from Thailand, a handmade maxidress, Mango bag and heels from a local fashion shop. Spanish style blogger (thefashionthroughmyeyes.com) Carla Estevez sports a Pull & Bear denim jacket and Zara dress, bag and flats.

My outfit:
Pull&Bear denim jacket (also available in a more faded shade).

White Pull&Bear dress. White Asos Petite dress, from $60.90

From left to right: J Crew Tillary shoulder bag in neon coral, $148 at jcrew.com. This is the J Crew Brompton hobo bag and it's my favourite bag out of all the bags in the world. I don't even have it, but it looks comfotable, conventional and overall, chic. Here it's in henna and it's 298 dollars at jcrew.com

Sam Edelman for American Eagle Outfitters flats, 29.99 USD

As you know, I always make sure that the clothes I show are petites, larger children's clothing or from a store with smaller sizes or that usually caters to teens. If I show shoes, I also make sure that they exist in a size 5 or under (these aren't currently available online in such sizes).
More denim jacket looks coming soon!
